Annoyed BJP legislators give Mufti 15 days to address their concernsThe enraged lot, comprising some Ministers of State (MoS) and legislators, will wait for a fortnight as the Chief Minister had promised to address all their issues.

In a bid to placate the annoyed coalition partner, Mufti Sayeed had hosted a breakfast meeting with BJP ministers and legislators on Saturday to listen to their grievances.

In the meeting, the BJP ministers and legislators had expressed their anger over the distribution of developmental funds and the style of functioning of some PDP ministers. Some BJP ministers have alleged that are not being involved in policy decisions.

Sources in the BJP said after the breakfast meeting, annoyed party ministers and legislators discussed the outcome of their discussions with the Chief Minister. “As the Chief Minister promised to address our grievances on priority, a majority of the Ministers of State and legislators arrived at the decision that the next course of action will be taken after 15 days,” one of the BJP MLAs said on condition of anonymity. It was decided that a review meeting would be held after December 15 to devise the future course of action, he added.

“If our grievances are not properly addressed, we will vociferously take up our issues in the coming Budget session of the Assembly,” said another legislator, who did not wish to be identified. He admitted that the BJP legislators were facing intense pressure from their voters because most of the developmental works in their respective constituencies had become defunct due to “paucity of funds”.

“Within a week’s time, the new state president of the party would be elected. If our issues are not addressed within 15 days, we will take all our issues before the new head of the state BJP,” he said.
